Setting Course: Energy Efficient Transportation Building
At the regular scheduled school board meeting on March 11, 2008, Dale Wagner from Gibraltar Design presented a plan for an updated Transportation/Maintenance/Food Service building.
The Mattoon School Building Committee has been continually discussing the possibilities and fate of the current Transportation Building. Initially, the committee had to decide whether to update/fix-up the current building or if building new would be more cost effective and financially responsible. During the January board meeting, a list was compiled for repairs that would be required to make the current Transportation Building up to Life Safety Standards. Adding in the costs for utilities of the transportation building, the committee realized that a new and energy efficient building would be the obvious choice.
