Read through the list of available scholarships that is attached.  If there are scholarships that apply to you the application is either online or provided in the file folders located in Student Services.  The scholarship descriptions will indicate where they are located.  For paper applications, if you are taking the last one please let

  • Log into your College Board account for information on Scholarships and College/Trade/Tech School information…..this is a great free resource to you!!

 

  • College Board Opportunity Scholarships: College Board Opportunity Scholarships guide you through the college planning process and offer you a chance to earn money for college for each action you complete.  Visit cb.org/opportunity for more information.

 

  • P.E.O. Scholarship:  The MF chapter of P.E.O in Mattoon will award (1) $1000 scholarship this year to one Senior girl.  The scholarship is open to all graduating women with a desire to further their education.  Emphasis will be placed on personal initiative, future goals, involvement with the community/school, and financial need.  Scholarship applications are available in Student Services and are due Tuesday, March 17, 2020, extended to April 15th

 

  • Mattoon Education Association Scholarship (located in the file UAW Scholarship folder)- Applicants must be a graduating senior from Mattoon High School with preference given to but not limited to MESPA/UAW local 2384 members’ relatives, Application is below and available under Resources/Scholarships in Class of 2020 Schoology group.  Fill out the application and email completed app to dedalby@mcusd2.com, extended to April
  • MEA-UAW Scholarship
  • Mattoon Athletic Booster Club Scholarship Seniors who have earned 2 or more IHSA varsity letters during their Senior year, maintained a “C” average or better all 4 years and are continuing their education are encouraged to apply.  $500 each for 3 Senior Girls and 3 Senior Boys.  Applications are available in Student Services; deadline is Wednesday, March 25, 2020, extended to May 4.
  • Springfield in Illinois Diocesan Council of Catholic Women:  The Women of the Springfield Diocesan Council of Catholic Women are offering four $500.00 college scholarships to four outstanding Catholic Senior Young Ladies.  Applications are available in Student Services, deadline is March 30, 2020

 

  • Illinois Society of Professional Engineers Champaign Chapter:  Applicants must have a minimum of 3.0 GPA (4.0 scale), minimum SAT test score of 600 Math & 500 Verbal; or ACT of 29 Math, 25 English, enrolled in an engineering program at a college or university that has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board of Engineering and Tech. Applications are available in Student Services, deadline is March 30, 2020.
  • Mary Nolan Memorial ScholarshipThis scholarship has been established in honor and memory of Ms. Mary Nolan.  Ms. Nolan was an English teacher at Mattoon High School for 26 years.  She loved teaching and making a positive impact on her students.  Applicants can be MHS graduates from the Class of 2019 or the Class of 2020, and plans to pursue a career in a public service field.  Application is attached below and also available under Resources/Scholarships in Class of 2020 Schoology group.  Fill out the application and email completed app to dedalby@mcusd2.comExtended to April 16th
  • Mary Nolan Memorial Scholarship

 

  • American Legion Ruth Easton Scholarship Application: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in 2 installments ($500), one at the beginning of first semester, and the other at the beginning of second semester pending passing grades and proof of enrollment.  Eligibility: The applicant shall be a female in the Senior Class at Mattoon High School and/or a member of the American Legion Post #88 in good standing. She shall be a direct descendant of a veteran of the United States Armed Forces. Proof of veteran’s eligibility is a DD214 form, or honorable discharge papers. Scholastic standing must be a “C” or above. Applications: Application must include three letters of recommendation, certified transcript, proof of financial need, and a biographical statement. Biographical statement should include education background, school and community activities, along with other pertinent information. Application is available for pick-up in the MHS student services office.  Deadline:  April 1, 2020

 

  • American Legion Auxiliary Norma Williams Scholarship: A $1,000 scholarship will be awarded in 2 installments ($500), one at the beginning of first semester, and the other at the beginning of second semester pending passing grades and proof of enrollment.  Eligibility: The applicant shall be a female Junior or Senior Member in good standing of the American Legion Auxiliary, Lawrence Riddle Unit #88 of Mattoon, IL. Applicant should have a “C” average. Application: Application can be picked up in Student Services and must include three letters of recommendation, certified transcript, proof of financial need, and a biographical statement. Biographical statement should include educational background, school and community activities, along with other pertinent information. DeadlineApril 1, 2020

 

  • First Neighbor Bank Scholarship: A $500 scholarship will be presented to a student enrolled in a 2 or 4-year college. Applicants should be in good academic standing, some school involvement and good citizenship/behavior.   Applications available in Student Services or online below:  Extended to April 30th

  • Anthony Sheehan Memorial ScholarshipThe family and friends of Anthony hope that this scholarship will serve as a way to keep Anthony’s precious legacy alive through future generations of students. The Anthony Sheehan Memorial Scholarship is open to MHS students who meet one or more of the following requirements: an active ROTC participant in good standing, shown exemplary school spirit and support for his/her classmates as an active participant on Team Massive, active member of the Immaculate Conception Church, is/has been an employee of Camp New Hope in good standing, Volunteered at least 20 hours with Camp New Hope or Special Olympics, been accepted to a college/university with an intent to study Special Education.  Applications are available in Student Services, deadline is extended to May 1, 2020. 

 

  • Wave Graphics Scholarship a scholarship worth $500.  Eligible students must attend a college or university in Fall 2020, have taken a full year of Graphic Arts I or II, also financial need and participation in extracurricular is taken into consideration.   Scholarship applications are available below:  Extended deadline is April 30

  • Mike Witwicki Scholarship a scholarship worth $500.  Students applying for this scholarship must be attending a college or university in Fall 2020, lettered in a varsity sport, financial need and participation in extracurricular activities will be taken into consideration.  The application is available belows:   deadline for applications is April 3, 2020Extended deadline is April 30

  • Cosmetologists Illinois East Central Scholarship:  Awarding one $1000.00 Cosmetology Scholarship to a student enrolled in a Cosmetology program in the state of Illinois.  Applications are available in Student Services, deadline is April 3rd, 2020

 

  • Rotary Club of Mattoon and Swearingen Family Scholarship:  3 $1000 awards.  Additionally, the Mattoon Rotary Club will select the recipient of the Swearingen Family Scholarship for $1,000.  The Virgil J. Judge Scholarship and Swearingen Family Scholarship will only be awarded to a qualifying student who plans to attend Lake Land College.  The Roy Sheppard and the Alexander Family Rotary Scholarships will be awarded to two qualified students attending colleges of their choice.  Candidates should be in the top 20%, have participated in extracurricular activities, and demonstrated leadership in one or more such activity.  Deadline is April 3, 2020.   • Golden Apple Scholarship:  Any strong academic student interested in becoming a teacher should apply for the Golden Apple scholarship.  As a way of “giving back” Golden Apple winners must be willing to teach at a school of need for a few years after graduation.  Application: Interested students should go to goldenapple.org to learn more and apply.  Deadline: April 3, 2020

 

  • Exchange Club of Mattoon ScholarshipsOpen to all Mattoon High School seniors.  The scholarship is intended to assist with the cost of a program of higher education at either a 2 or 4-year institution only.  Scholarship applications must include a completed and signed application form, an essay, 2 letters of recommendation, and a current transcript.   Online link available below.   • Exchange Club Scholarship

 

  • Past President’s Parley Scholarship:  The applicant for this $1,000 scholarship must be seeking a career in nursing, and currently accepted into an accredited nursing program as a full time student. Along with the application, applicant must include an essay stating their reason for choosing a nursing career, three letters of recommendation, a copy of most recent Federal Income Tax Return, transcript, and name and address of school or hospital applicant plans to attend. Applications: Available for pick-up in the MHS student services office.  Deadline: April 10, 2020

 

  • Joseph Yackle Memorial Scholarship (Watkins Bros.):  Open to all Mattoon High School Seniors who plan on attending a 2 or 4 year college and university in the Fall of 2020. Application is available under Resources/Scholarships in Class of 2020 Schoology group.  Fill out the application and email completed app to dedalby@mcusd2.comDeadline is April 15, 2020

 

  • J. Leonard Brown Scholarship: Available to High School Seniors, residing in Moultrie County with a grade average of 2.0 or better on 4.0 scale, enrolled as a full-time student in a college or vocational school for the fall of 2020.  Applications available in Student Services, deadline is April 15, 2020

 

 

  • Sarah Bush Lincoln Guild Scholarship:  The Guild of the Sarah Bush Lincoln Health System annually awards several scholarships to qualified persons going into a hospital-based health care curriculum.  There is one application for the following scholarships; Guild Scholarship, Dr. CD Swickard Scholarship, & Vasudeo Shripad Joag ScholarshipEligibility Requirements: Any person who has been accepted into an accredited program of studies may fill out an application form.  To obtain and application email Deanna Dalby at dedalby@mcusd2.comDeadline is April 15, 2020
  • **Independent Professional Seed Association:  The IPSA scholarship program was created by the Myron "Ted" Asplin Family to benefit to future of agriculture by supporting and encouraging the education of future ag professionals. Application is open to High School Seniors, as well as active college students, majoring in Ag related degree; non-ag related majors will not be considered.  Preference is given to Agronomy & Science related fields (Agronomy, Crop, Soil, Engineering), and Business fields (Ag Business, Communications, Econ, Marketing).  Animal Science or Pre-Vet Majors are not prioritized.  Applications must be completed in full, incomplete applications will be disregarded.  Visit https://ipseed.org/ipsa-affairs/scholarships for more information.  Application link is https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/IPSA2020_Scholars, deadline is April 30, 2020

 

 

  • Coles Moultrie Electric Cooperative Scholarships:  Coles Moultrie is giving away six (6) $500 scholarships to assist members or dependents with their college education. To qualify, an applicant must be either a Coles-Moultrie Electric Coop member or under 21 years of age and a legal dependent of a Coles-Moultrie member.  The applicant must be enrolled in either a 2 or 4-year degree program at an accredited institution in Illinois.  Applicant cannot have previously received a Coles- Moultrie scholarship. Coles Moultrie employees, directors, and any of their dependents are ineligible.  Priority will be given to one applicant who is specializing in Electrical Engineering.  Applications can be picked-up in Student Services or online below  .   • PB & J Scholarship:  A $500-$1000 scholarship open to all college-bound seniors at Mattoon High School who have experienced challenges in their life and who have the drive to succeed and plan on attending an accredited 2 or 4-year college in fall 2020.  Apply online at the link below  Scholarship deadline is May 31, 2020

Scholarships for MHS Alumni

  • American Legion Auxiliary Children & Youth Scholarship:  Applicants must be working towards a degree in Edu with emphasis on the subjects required for teaching mentally or physically challenged children, Sophomore or Junior status at college, upper half of the class, show financial need, Illinois resident, sponsor from the Am. Legion Auxiliary Unit.  More information available on the application.  Applications are available in Student Services.  Deadline: April 1, 2020
