LIFT students and staff worked to show their appreciation for veterans this past week through a pair of community meals.
On Monday, November 10, students hosted a free pulled pork lunch for veterans, alongside a $5 meal option for the public, with proceeds benefiting the Coles County Veterans Support Coalition. The event was organized by students in LIFT’s leadership program and included contributions from several other programs. Childcare students prepared gift bags and cards, manufacturing and construction students created medallions representing each military branch, and culinary students helped prepared and serve meals.
The serving continued on Tuesday, when students and staff served free hamburgers for veterans participating in or attending the Mattoon Veterans Day parade.
These events were a great opportunity for students to honor those who have served.
