LIFT students, Brooke Simpson, and Charleigh Curry from the LIFT leadership floor, recently delivered Christmas gifts to Rural King for the community angel tree! LIFT students helped organize gift donations for over 20 community kids! The angel project was planned by Brooke. We appreciate the work of all the students involved in the planning and execution of this project! 😇🎄🎁
We were lucky to have a visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus twice in one day at LIFT on December 14th! 🎅
In the morning they visited the Little Leaders Childcare Lab and in the evening they were in attendance for the Birth to 3 Program and Little Leaders Family Night. 🤶
Families decorated sugar cookies (made by Caseys), created ornaments out of tree wood cookies, dances with reindeer, and had their pictures taken. A raffle of two educational toys (donated by a previous Birth to 3 family) and a taco meal kit was raffled off to families. Each child enrolled in Birth-3 or Little Leaders also received an educational toy (thanks to a recent fundraising project). Check out more photos here. 👇

Little Leaders Childcare babies are loving reading about the 7 habits! 😃😍
Did you know that LIFT Central Illinois, along with Mattoon High School are only the sixth and seventh Lighthouse High Schools in the world? Mattoon CUSD #2 is the third district to have all of our schools designated, but the first district to do it on the same day and as a district system, rather than as individual schools.

Culinary Arts students were recently able to visit Prairie Fruits Farm & Creamery in Champaign. They were able to tour the farm and even sample some goat cheese! 🐐🧀
We appreciate their hospitality and the opportunity for our kids to explore more of what they do on a daily basis.🙂
LIFT Communications students have teamed up with students from Riddle and Williams Elementary Schools twice a month to film special segments that are edited into their daily newscasts at their respective schools. We are absolutely loving this opportunity to synergize! 🎥📺

On November 15th, 2023 students from the MAC and HVAC floors at LIFT visited the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 149 open house. Through hands-on activities, students had the opportunity to explore the different occupational pathways offered by the Plumbers and Pipefitters union.

Lori Ghere, Childcare Facilitator and Katrina Farris Director of Early Childhood took LIFT Early Childhood students to spend the day at the Ballinger Teacher Center at Eastern Illinois University. Michele McDaniel, Education Librarian and DR Jennifer Butcher, Early Childhood professor presented on screening activities, educational career paths and how to use the teacher center.

Students in the Culinary Program were recently able to take a tour of Morgan's Meat Market. The owner, Mike Love, personally led the tour and showed the students the different procedures used at his establishment (sanitary, packaging, wholesale, retail, meat processing, etc.) 🥓🥩

Hollywood Screenwriter and Mattoon Native, Craig Titley visited LIFT on September 21st. Titley spoke about his time in the area, his college experience, and move to L.A.
He also took questions from students about some of his film projects, including "Cheaper By the Dozen", "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief", and the 2002 live action "Scooby Doo". We are thankful for Titley's time and how he left everyone feeling inspired.
