Hastings and Havlik Family Dentistry recently donated $5,000 to the Nancy Conlon Kindness for Kids Fund. The donation was approved by the Mattoon CUSD #2 Board of Education.
“The Fund is a great way to provide our schools with resources that students need,” said Dr. Myles Hastings. “We are grateful to partner with some of the wonderful MCUSD #2 staff who utilize this fund to help the students. Their efforts ensure these resources directly benefit students in our community.
The fund provides assistance to children and families throughout the district by helping supply essential items such as clothing, shoes, school supplies, hats, gloves, and other needs.
“We are incredibly grateful to Hastings and Havlik’s,” said Ryan Ghere, Mattoon CUSD #2 Business Manager. “The Nancy Conlon Kindness for Kids Fund reflects the caring spirit that exists in our schools, and this generous contribution will make a significant impact.”

About the Nancy Conlon Fund:
The Nancy Conlon Kindness for Kids Fund was created to assist students at Mattoon Community Unit School District 2. Nancy, a long-time, beloved teacher in the district, passed away in October 2016. Her smile and upbeat personality were an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Nancy had an enthusiasm for teaching and a penchant for inspiring student learning through her creativity. She was a sensitive and generous human being who placed her students’ needs at the forefront. Without fanfare or notoriety, Nancy would purchase items for students such as new clothing, shoes, or school supplies. The Nancy Conlon Kindness for Kids Fund is not only a memorial to Nancy but a tribute to all those teachers, administrators, and school personnel who have generously helped students to succeed.
