On January 21, 2026, cadets from the Mattoon High School JROTC program were honored to present the colors at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign men’s basketball game against Maryland.
The event provided a memorable opportunity for the cadets to demonstrate professionalism, discipline, and respect for national symbols while performing in front of a large collegiate crowd.
Participation in events such as this reinforces the JROTC program’s mission of developing citizenship, leadership, and confidence in young people. The cadets represented MHS and the community with pride and distinction.
