Due to the inclement weather producing slick road conditions, the decision has been made to cancel all extra curricular games, events, and practices for Monday, January 22, 2024. Thank you for your ongoing support and please be safe.

Due to inclement weather producing slick road conditions, Mattoon CUSD #2 Schools will be closed Monday, January 22, 2024. This includes all sessions at LIFT Central Illinois. There will be no e-Learning. A decision will be made by noon determining whether practices and other extracurricular events will be postponed. Coaches will notify the students. As a result of this emergency day, Wednesday, May 22, 2024 will now be a student attendance day.

MHS Drama presents Winter One Acts this Friday at MHS in room 509. The first show will run 5:30-7:00 p.m. and the second show will run from 7:30-9:00 p.m. Tickets are $10.

Due to a scheduling conflict, Varsity & JV BBB will travel to Lincoln on 1/26/24. Game times are 6:00 & 7:30 pm. Bus time is 2:45 pm. This is no longer a HOME event.

Tonight’s Financial Aid presentation provided by Lake Land College has been canceled. The FAFSA Completion Workshop is still scheduled for Thursday, January 18th from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. in the MHS Library. This is a workshop opportunity for Seniors/Parents/Guardians to complete the new FAFSA. Apollo Wrestling at Mahomet-Seymour for Monday, January 15, is postponed due to adverse weather conditions. Reschedule date is still TBA.

A reminder for our students: There will be no school on Monday, January 15, 2024, in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

FAFSA Completion Night, provided by ISAC, will be held on January 18th at 6:00 p.m. in the MHS cafe. This workshop opportunity can help seniors, parents, and guardians to complete the new FAFSA. MHS will be hosting a Financial Aid Presentation provided by Lake Lake College on January 16, 2024 at 5:00 PM. Students are encouraged to learn about FAFSA, scholarships, and grants. 📆

Save the Date: Our next Food for Thought Family Night at Mattoon High School will take place on February 29, 2024 at MHS. The spotlight will be on School links and Futures Day. 📅

Mattoon High School hosted its first annual Academic Spotlight night on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. This event was partnered with Food for Thought, a subcommittee of MHS students and staff passionate about increasing family engagement at MHS. 🥧💭 Families were able to engage in the many academic opportunities identified by students as outstanding, influential, or memorable. Featured were internship opportunities, Personalized Pace Math, American Sign Language activities, Computer Maintenance coding drones, Physics creating catapults, and rocket creation. 🚀💻 In addition, MHS senior Jo A. cooked food for all guests as her capstone project for her Culinary Arts pathway at LIFT, and Noah N. filmed and edited the footage for his capstone project for the Broadcasting pathway at LIFT. Families could also play board games with the Game Club during the evening. These students were incredible leaders throughout the entire event. 👩‍🍳 📽 We are so proud of all of our student leaders who are passionate about spotlighting the amazing opportunities MHS students have each day, serving our community, and engaging families. 🤝
