Two Mattoon Middle School athletes qualified for the IESA Class 3A State Cross Country Meet following a strong performance at the sectional meet held Saturday, October 11, in Robinson.
Gunner Bartels secured 12th place with a personal record time of 11:51.3, while Aiden Kai finished 17th, also setting a personal best of 12:13.5. Their finishes earned them spots at the state meet.
The IESA 3A State Meet will take place on Saturday, October 18th, at Maxwell Park. The Boys 3A race is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
The Wildcats are led by coaches Holly Thompson and Whitney Hirano.
