Mattoon High School celebrated a Stadium Naming Ceremony during the homecoming football game on Friday, October 10, 2025. The ceremony took place before the Greenwave/Mahomet-Seymour kickoff, honoring the partnership between MHS Athletics and Pilson Auto Group. This partnership marks a significant milestone in the community's continued support for Mattoon’s students and athletic programs.

Mattoon High School Athletic Director, Trent Duckett, expresses his gratitude for partnering with the Pilson Family. “We are thrilled to continue our strong relationship with the Pilson family and their ongoing commitment to MHS athletics. The Pilson family has been a big supporter of Greenwave athletics within our community and a significant asset during their own high school years. It is an honor to have not only their support, but also their name associated with an MHS athletic facility.”

During the ceremony, Jamie Pilson of Pilson Auto Group was recognized in honor of his contributions and support to Mattoon High School Athletics, through his sponsorship of Gaines Field at Pilson Family Stadium. As part of a 4-year naming rights partnership, Pilson will support Mattoon High School Athletics with an annual contribution.

“Our family is proud to support Mattoon High School and its student-athletes,” shares Jamie Pilson when reflecting on his partnership with MHS. “This stadium is more than a place to play football, it’s where community pride, tradition, and future leadership are built. We are honored to have the Pilson Family name attached to it.”

Pilson Stadium is a versatile hub, hosting not just Gaines Field but also the track, sports complex, concession stands, and other gathering spaces. It serves as an educational classroom, assembly space, athletic venue, and host for major events like graduation, extracurricular activities, and more. This partnership not only enhances the field's functionality, but also underscores the high school’s dedication to creating meaningful opportunities for students, families, and the wider community alike.

The partnership between MHS Athletics and Pilson is a direct reflection of the strong community support that powers the school’s progress. Superintendent Tim Condron shares, “Through this partnership, we are able to elevate the experiences of our students, athletes, and families. This is more than just a naming opportunity. It’s an investment in the future of our school and the continued growth of our community.”
