Mattoon Rotary recognizes one senior male and female each month at their luncheon as Students of the Month. Students are nominated by MHS staff based on outstanding academic achievement and citizenship.
For October, the honorees are Denver Burch and Alaina Nolte.
Denver, son of Dalton and Colleen Dyer, is an active and dedicated member of JROTC. He participates in all JROTC teams, including Archery, Rifle, and Drill/Color Guard, and serves as captain of the Raiders team. He also holds the position of Battalion Executive Officer. After graduation, Denver plans to attend a four-year university with ROTC and commission into the U.S. Army.
Alaina, daughter of Travis and Jennifer Nolte, is involved in numerous leadership and service organizations at MHS. She serves as Student Council Communications Director, Leadership Lighthouse Student Facilitator, LIFT Leadership Student, Health Occupations Student, BIONIC Mentor, and is a member of the National Honor Society. In the fall, Alaina plans to attend the University of Illinois Chicago to pursue a bachelor’s degree in nursing, followed by a master’s degree to become a nurse practitioner.
MHS is proud to celebrate the accomplishments and contributions of Denver and Alaina. Congratulations to both on this well-deserved recognition!
