November 2025 District Newsletter
A Message of Gratitude from Superintendent Condron
With the upcoming season of Thanksgiving upon us, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our entire Mattoon Schools community. Our students continue to impress us with their curiosity, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning. Our staff, teachers, support staff, and administrators, show exceptional dedication each day, creating safe and inspiring environments where students feel confident and comfortable to grow. I would also like to thank our families for your ongoing partnership and support; your involvement in your child’s learning strengthens every aspect of our work.
Together, we share a commitment to empowering Mattoon’s future, and it is this partnership that makes our progress possible. I am grateful for all you do and look forward to the continued success we will achieve - together.
- Superintendent Tim Condron

Brian Daniell, Substitute Teacher

"Mr. Daniell consistently goes above and beyond for our middle school community. He brings a positive attitude to everything he does and is always friendly, supportive, and encouraging with both staff and students. His willingness to step up wherever help is needed truly embodies the spirit of teamwork and leadership at MMS."
A special thanks to Mr. Daniell for all of his hard work on the middle school courtyard, transforming it into a festive, welcoming area just in time for fall!
Kyla Jordan, Williams Elementary School
"Kyla has gone above and beyond in her classroom jobs this year. She was an errand runner and is now a mail person. She is always willing to go out of her way to make sure her jobs get done well, along with showing leadership by helping others and helping to clean up messes that aren’t hers."

Grateful For Our Classes
Food Science Classes at MHS are learning all the delicious trades of Thanksgiving! From pumpkin rolls to homemade pies, they’ve been preparing holiday treats to make their celebrations extra special.

Thankful For Our LIFT Alum
Every year the LIFT Leadership Floor hosts an alumni meal for all LIFT Leadership students around Thanksgiving. Alumni students are welcome to attend the breakfast, luncheon, or both if their schedule and stomach allows!
This tradition is enjoyed by alumni students and current students alike. It is truly a family reunion and it’s so wonderful to hear what the alumni are doing in life whether that be college, work, or military! Since LIFT’s doors opened in 2022, the leadership floor has hosted over 150 students from all over the region and the world, including, Belgium, Austria, France, and Italy. This tradition allows us to be grateful for one of the many wonderful aspects that LIFT brings, true connection and relationship with others.

Mattoon CUSD #2 is pleased to announce the hiring of three new administrators who will transition into their new roles ahead of the 2026-27 school year. These appointments coincide with the upcoming retirements of Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Dr. David Skocy and Arland D. Williams Elementary Principal Michael Shaffer, along with the district’s effort to name a permanent director at LIFT. Through these leadership transitions, MCUSD2 reinforces its dedication to fostering student success, supporting innovative learning, and strengthening the community it serves.
Joining the leadership team:
- Dr. Morgan Wilhoit, Assistant Superintendent
- Jarad Kimbro, Arland D. Williams Elementary School Principal
- Chris Brown, as the LIFT Director
All three new assignments will begin their roles in the 2026-27 school year, and the district looks forward to introducing them to families and community members.

ParentSquare
To reduce the number of notifications you receive for the same message, ParentSquare is implementing a smart notification delivery system for posts when you have both app and text notifications enabled. This change will first deliver post notifications to the app, with a text backup when needed.
No action is required! If you have downloaded the app and have turned on both app and text notifications, you will automatically benefit from this new function. If you haven't downloaded the ParentSquare app, we encourage you to do so to get the most out of your school communications.
You can update your notification preferences any time under your personal settings.
