Two Mattoon Middle School (MMS) chorus students have been selected for the 2026 Illinois Music Educators Association All State Choir. Seventh grader Charlee Compton, a soprano, and eighth grader Wren Kinkley, an alto, earned their spots after completing a competitive audition process this fall.
More than 23,000 Junior High and High School students from across Illinois auditioned for this year's ensembles. Compton and Kinkley scored in the top eight percent, placing them among the highest performing young musicians in the state.
Both students will perform at the Illinois Music Education Conference in Peoria on Friday, January 30.
MMS congratulates Compton and Kinkley on this outstanding accomplishment and recognizes the dedication and preparation that helped them reach this level of achievement.
