December WaveMakers
Savana Brewer, Franklin Teacher

"Ms. Brewer has been amazing with the transition from daycare to preschool. She is amazing at keeping up communications and finding creative solutions for areas kids need help with. My child is very high energy and struggles with routine. The adjustment period has been tough on both my child and myself. Ms. Brewer keeps me in the loop with how he has done and has worked with me on things she is doing that help, and she listens to what I do at home that helps to try as well."
Wren Kinkley, Mattoon Middle School
"Wren is kind and always willing to help others and her school community. Wren has taken on many leadership roles at MMS. She is the drum major for the MMS marching band, sings the National Anthem at ballgames, and is part of the MMS Lead Team. As a member of the MMS Lead team, Wren and other students attended a Kiwanis meeting sharing the great things at MMS. Whenever Wren is called for a leadership or volunteer role, she is always willing and ready to put her best forward. Wren is also a leader in the classroom where she works hard and is kind to all around her."

Kindergarten Playground Upgrades Enhance Early Learning Experience at Williams and Riddle Elementary Schools
Kindergartners at Riddle Elementary School and Williams Elementary School have been enjoying brand-new playgrounds this semester. The project began earlier this year and was finished in September, giving students updated play spaces filled with equipment designed for active and accessible play, featuring an inclusive whirl and new safety surfacing.
Riddle Elementary School Principal Kristin Kleiss said the new space has already made a noticeable difference for young learners. “Our kindergarteners love the new playground. It has created a welcoming space where students can play together, build confidence, and burn off energy in a positive way.”
