Landon Brown and Addison Perkins, two students from the Mattoon Middle School Reading Committee, recently announced Glitch by Laura Martin as the 24th annual Read Across Mattoon book. The announcement was made during the February 10, 2026, school board meeting.
The adventure book features two enemies who travel through time to preserve important historical events. When one of the characters receives a letter from their future self, warning them about a disaster that will threaten them and everyone they know, they must work together to save the future.
Read Across Mattoon encourages community members to read the book along with middle schoolers to help promote literacy. Individuals can pick up a copy at the Mattoon Public Library. This program is made possible by generous donations from the community.
