This January, cadets from the MHS Greenwave JROTC Battalion successfully completed their triennial JROTC Program for Accreditation (JPA) inspection, an extensive evaluation conducted once every three years to assess program excellence and cadet proficiency. The inspection began with a formal in-ranks evaluation of the entire battalion, followed by a precision drill performance and a color guard presentation. Several cadets conducted interviews to demonstrate knowledge of the JROTC curriculum and leadership principles. Cadet leadership also delivered detailed briefings on the battalion’s continuous improvement efforts and service-learning initiatives.
Inspectors from JROTC higher headquarters in Chicago, along with local Army recruiters and ROTC cadets from Eastern Illinois University, conducted the evaluation.
The MHS Greenwave JROTC Battalion earned an outstanding score of 99 out of 100 points, receiving the prestigious Army JROTC Honor Unit with Distinction designation. This achievement reflects the cadets’ dedication to mission accomplishment, attention to detail, discipline, and strong esprit de corps while highlighting the program’s continued commitment to excellence.
