Art Statement:This mural visualizes the concept that reading is not a passive act, but a portal to infinite adventure. The mural serves as a vibrant reminder that while feet may be planted on the ground, the mind is free to roam the universe. By pairing the genius of Einstein with the migratory journey of the monarch butterfly, this mural demonstrates that intelligence and imagination are not static. Through the power of a book it is as if our minds are free to migrate, explore, and discover worlds far beyond the classroom walls. The monarch butterflies represent the Riddle Elementary School’s library dedication to the Monarch Award-winning books. Monarch butterflies over the years have been an exciting science lesson for both teachers and students. The butterflies create a ribbon of orange and black that winds across the mural acting as the visual path that ties the 2025-26 Riddle mural all together.
