Two Mattoon High School wrestlers brought home state medals after strong performances at the IHSA Wrestling State Finals held Feb. 20–21 in Champaign.
Tristan Porter finished third in his weight class, while Mitchell Clapp secured a fifth-place finish. Joining them at the state finals was Jaxtyn Howell, who also qualified and competed, representing the Greenwave with a strong showing.
The tournament, hosted annually by the Illinois High School Association, features the best high school wrestlers from across Illinois. All three athletes battled through a competitive field, highlighting their dedication and hard work throughout the season.
