Students graduating from Mattoon High School (MHS) are seeing significant financial support as they pursue higher education, thanks to strong partnerships with regional colleges and local scholarship organizations.
MHS graduates collectively received well over $200,000 in scholarships and financial aid over the past year alone, highlighting the community’s commitment to making college more accessible and affordable.
At Eastern Illinois University (EIU), approximately $100,000 in scholarship funding was awarded to MHS graduates last year. These awards reflect EIU’s continued investment in local students and its commitment to helping them achieve academic and career success.
Lake Land College (LLC) has also played a key role in supporting Mattoon students. Among the MHS Class of 2025, 29 graduates currently hold active scholarships totaling $55,477, representing students who chose to continue their education at LLC.
In addition to institutional support, local organizations continue to make a meaningful impact. The Southeastern Community Foundation awarded $93,400 in scholarships to the MHS Class of 2025 to support students’ educational goals.
These opportunities underscore the importance of connecting students with college representatives and scholarship resources early in their high school careers.
“This level of support shows our students that higher education is within reach, " said De Dalby, MHS Counselor. “Our community offers a wide range of scholarship opportunities and resources, giving students the support they need to confidently take the next step after high school.
Mattoon High School students will have the chance to meet with representatives from colleges such as EIU and LLC to learn about academic programs and opportunities available during Futures Day on Friday, March 27.
