Mattoon High School held its annual College Signing Days on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, and Monday, April 20, 2026. Six seniors signed with the support of their families, friends, and school as they continue their athletic careers at the next level.
Audrina Gordon
On April 20, MHS 2026 Graduate and Student-Athlete Audrina Gordon signed with Eastern Illinois University where she will continue her cheer career. Gordon has been cheering in Mattoon for the past eight years. She plans to study Exercise Science. Gordon stated, "Being a cheerleader at MHS helped me to improved and learn more advanced skills that I was able to use at college tryouts."

Ava Larson
On April 20, MHS 2026 Graduate and Student-Athlete Ava Larson signed with Illinois Central College where she will continue her volleyball and basketball career. Larson has been playing both sports in Mattoon for the past ten years. Aside from athletics, she's also part of team Massive, National Honor Society, Student Council, BIONIC, and High Honor Roll. She plans to study Biology in college with the goal of becoming a Physical Therapist. Larson stated, "I am super excited for this next chapter and higher level of athletics. I'm super grateful for all my teammates at MHS and everything I learned and gained throughout the years.

Chiondra McWhorter
On April 20, MHS 2026 Graduate and Student-Athlete Chiondra McWhorter signed with the University of Kentucky where she will continue her cheer career. McWhorter has been cheering for the past ten years. She also participates in BIONIC at MHS. She plans to study Nursing in college and noted that she chose the college because they have an elite cheer team and a highly rated nursing program. McWhorter stated, "I'm excited to take the next step at University of Kentucky. My time at MHS has meant everything to me, and I'm thankful for everyone who helped me get here."
Shayden Neff
On April 20, MHS 2026 Graduate and Student-Athlete Shayden Neff signed with Millikin University where he will continue his career in football. Neff has eight years of playing experience. He also participates in baseball at MHS. He plans to study Mechanical Engineering. Neff stated, "This is a great opportunity to make myself better."
Kaelyn Ryan
On February 4, MHS 2026 Graduate and Student-Athlete Kaelyn Ryan signed with Lake Land College where she will continue her career in Cross Country. Ryan has four years of experience in the sport. She's also a member of the National Honor Society and Student Council. Ryan stated, "I am so excited to further my athletic and academic career at Lake Land College."

Keeghan Shaw
On April 20, MHS 2026 Graduate and Student-Athlete Keeghan Shaw signed with Millikin University where he will continue his career in soccer. Shaw has ten years of playing experience. He also participates in Track at MHS. He plans to study Business and noted he chose the college because it was close to home and they have a young soccer program. Shaw stated, "I am excited to have the opportunity to continue playing and growing in the sport I love. Playing in high school is something I will never forget. I made many friends and my best memories are on the soccer field."
