On May 7, 2026, Williams Elementary School hosted Kindergarten Transition Night from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for incoming 2026–27 kindergarten students from both Riddle and Williams Elementary Schools.
The event is designed to help children and their families ease into the transition to kindergarten by giving them an opportunity to experience key parts of the school day and meet staff members they will see in the fall.
Families toured kindergarten classrooms, met kindergarten teachers, and practiced a “first lunchroom experience” by being served pizza in the cafeteria. In the gym, families also visited informational tables featuring MCUSD #2 services and local social service agencies, many of which highlighted programs available throughout the summer.
A total of 65 families (206 attendees) participated in the event. Attendance included 23 families (76 attendees) from Riddle Elementary and 42 families (130 attendees) from Williams Elementary.
Door prizes were also awarded during the evening, including backpacks filled with kindergarten readiness supplies and summer enrichment items.
The district extends appreciation to staff and community partners who helped make the event a welcoming and informative experience for incoming kindergarten families.
