The Mattoon Middle School Reading Committee recently announced "Amari and the Night Brothers" as the 21st annual Read Across Mattoon Book.
The announcement was made during the January 10, 2023 school board meeting. Students on the 20-member committee picked the book written by author B.B. Alston because it has "magic, action, suspense, and a big unexpected twist at the end", stated member Chloe Bennett.
Adviser Ingrid Minger stated, "This book is a page-turner - you cannot put it down and once you finish, you will be ready to read the 2nd". Minger believes that Read Across Mattoon has distributed 20,000 books over the years.
Community members are invited to pick up their grand-funded copy at MMS or the Mattoon Public Library.
