Don't forget, the MHS Chess Team is selling official 2023 St. Louis Cardinals calendars! The order deadline to receive calendars by the holidays has been extended to Saturday, November 26. This year's calendar will have Albert Pujols on the cover and is "saluting Albert, Yadi, Waino, Goldy, Nado and the history-making highlights of 2022." Several MHS Juniors have been spending their Wednesday evenings preparing for the upcoming SAT. Students who participated in the fall math and English sessions took SAT practice tests to better understand what skills they need to work on before the SAT in March. Students worked with teachers to develop a study plan to better focus their time and study habits. There is still time for interested MHS Juniors to sign up for the winter SAT Prep Class. The winter session will start January 11, 2023, and will meet every Wednesday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00 PM for 8 weeks. MHS Building Trades Students recently went to visit the 2021-22 house they built. They are still accepting sealed bids for the home they are currently working on this year. The home is 1700 square feet, 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths, with a 2-car garage. Bids will start at $250,000. Sealed bids will be received at 1701 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL between 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. A letter of financial pre-approval is necessary for any bids to be considered. Absent the pre-approval letter, bids cannot be accepted. All bids need to be received no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9th, when bids will be publicly opened at the same address. MHS students are actively using the lunch and learn program to get work completed! We are so proud of our students! Lunch and Learn is offered during both lunch periods in room 216. Teachers are available for tutorial and/or homework assistance. Good news Friday! The totals from Tackle Hunger with the Eastern Illinois Foodbank are in! Mattoon and Charleston were able to collectively raise $597.76 during the Coles County Clash!
