MHS Building Trades Students recently went to visit the 2021-22 house they built. They are still accepting sealed bids for the home they are currently working on this year. The home is 1700 square feet, 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ baths, with a 2-car garage. Bids will start at $250,000. Sealed bids will be received at 1701 Charleston Avenue, Mattoon, IL between 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. A letter of financial pre-approval is necessary for any bids to be considered. Absent the pre-approval letter, bids cannot be accepted. All bids need to be received no later than 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 9th, when bids will be publicly opened at the same address. MHS students are actively using the lunch and learn program to get work completed! We are so proud of our students! Lunch and Learn is offered during both lunch periods in room 216. Teachers are available for tutorial and/or homework assistance. Good news Friday! The totals from Tackle Hunger with the Eastern Illinois Foodbank are in! Mattoon and Charleston were able to collectively raise $597.76 during the Coles County Clash! The MHS Positive Incentive Committee is selling tickets for the Blacklight Bingo fundraiser that will be held at the Mattoon Eagles on Friday, November 4. Mattoon Rotary recognizes one Senior male and female at their monthly luncheon as Students of the Month. Students are nominated by MHS staff, selection criteria includes outstanding academic achievement and citizenship. October's Rotary Student of the Month winners are Trendan Campbell and Madison Barnes. Congratulations to Trendan and Madison!

The MHS Chess Team is selling 2023 Cardinals calendars. The price is $17 per calendar and the team gets to keep $7.50 from each sale. The team uses the money for equipment updates and to pay for State. Cash or checks can be made out to Mattoon High School. If you would like a calendar, please send or bring money to MHS. The MHS colorguard/winterguard is raising money to get new equipment. Ballinger Hill Designs donated a three person glider (a value of $300) to Raffle off. Tickets will be sold for $5 each and they are only selling 500! The drawing will take place at half-time during the October 21,2022 football game.
