Sarah Bush Lincoln is offering Sports Physicals on Wednesday, June 11 from 5-7 PM at the SBL Family Medical Center (200 Richmond Avenue East, Mattoon, Illinois). 🏃‍♀️ The $20 appointment fee will be donated to the Mattoon Sports Booster Club. 💪 ✅ Cash or check only. MMS Golfers are invited to qualify for IESA Sectionals. ⛳ Download the form here: mcusd2.org/MMSgolf24 No meets or competitions required. The top 3 boys and girls from MMS will go to IESA Sectionals. Interested Students must register on 8 to 18 and provide a physical and an average for 18 holes. The form must be returned to Mr. Sharp in the MMS Main Office by Wednesday, May 22nd, 2024.

Applications are due tomorrow (May 14) for the 2024-25 MMS Yearbook Club. This is a great club for students who love to take pictures or organize! Meetings will take place with Ms. Crary at 8:00 A.M. beginning in the Fall and run through February. Michelle Crary's DEN class at the Mattoon Middle School recently received a Kindness Grant from the Hannah Mansell Happy Day Foundation. Her students chose to make flower pots with succulents in them to deliver to the MMS office staff. 🌱🪴

🎉✨ Save the date for the MMS Dance💃🕺 MMS students are invited to a glow dance party in the Hash Gym on Friday, May 3rd from 4-5:30 pm. Students ARE allowed to stay after school and will report to the Wildcat Gym to wait on the dance to begin. Tickets are $6 to attend.💫 Admission is just $6 per ticket, and concessions will be available. 🍿🥤

What an incredible experience it was for our students and staff to be able to view the Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. 🌑🔭 What an educational and unforgettable moment for everyone involved! 🌠

Don't forget, the Mattoon Middle School band is hosting Jake and Mikayla Hoult and their band at the MMS Hash Gym this afternoon! The students will be performing at 3:30 p.m., followed by Jake and Mikayla's performance. 🎤🎵 This is a free event for all ages. 🆓 There will be a 50/50 raffle, free-will donation buckets, and a bake sale. 🎟️💰🧁 Come join us for an afternoon of music and fun in the effort to raise money for uniforms for incoming MMS band students. 🎉 🙏

The MMS Agricultural department and greenhouse are experiencing exponential growth with a diverse array of plants, animals, and donations! 🌱🌿🐓 The LIFT Building and Mr. Compton generously donated an aquaponics unit from a senior capstone project to the greenhouse. The 8th graders will take the helm in learning about aquaponics. 🌊🐟 Deb Garretson, former MMS teacher, graciously donated two large banana trees for the greenhouse, raising hopes of harvesting bananas in the future. 🍌 The Enyart Family donated a 40-gallon aquarium for the classroom, initiating a fish habitat project. 🐠 The Kaufman family, once again, contributed fertilized eggs, igniting the spring chick incubation process. 🥚🐣 The FFA and agricultural classes have been diligently seeding and planting geraniums, wave petunias, tomatoes, peppers, zinnias, and marigolds for their plant sale this month and May. They also took care of many plants from staff members over the winter, addressing any needs to ensure the plants are healthy and ready for another year! 🌻👩‍🌾🌸🍅

MMS was proud to have Chris Suerdieck from the Local History Center at the Mattoon Public Library as a guest speaker on April 3rd. Chris spoke to 7th graders about Mattoon's involvement in the Civil War. We appreciate Chris taking the time to share our local and national history with the kids! 📜🇺🇸
