Kindergartners at Riddle Elementary School and Williams Elementary School have been enjoying brand-new playgrounds this semester. The project began earlier this year and was finished in September, giving students updated play spaces filled with equipment designed for active and accessible play, featuring an inclusive whirl and new safety surfacing.

The improvements came after the Board of Education approved replacing the playground structures at both schools. As part of the process, the board declared the former kindergarten playground equipment as surplus and approved donating it to Camp New Hope. The district maintenance team removed the equipment before it was donated.

Community support played an important role in the project. The Riddle Elementary PTO and the Williams Elementary PTO each contributed ten thousand dollars to help with the cost of the new playgrounds. The contributions came from earlier schoolwide fundraising efforts and helped bring these updated play areas to life for students.

Riddle Elementary School Principal Kristin Kleiss said the new space has already made a noticeable difference for young learners. “Our kindergarteners love the new playground. It has created a welcoming space where students can play together, build confidence, and burn off energy in a positive way.”
