Williams Elementary and Riddle Elementary Schools are kicking off their annual ABC Countdown to the Last Day of School on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
The countdown includes a daily theme or activity tied to a letter of the alphabet. Students and staff look forward to celebrating the end of the school year with creativity and school spirit.
This fun tradition helps wrap up the academic year on a positive and engaging note while building excitement for summer break.

A – Animal Print Day (April 16): Wear your best animal print or camouflage!
B – Brain Break Day (April 17): Take 5 minutes for a brain break today!
C – Crazy Hair Day (April 20): Come up with your craziest hair look!
D – Dance Party Day (April 21): Have a 30 second classroom dance party!
E – Exercise Day (April 22): Wear your best athletic gear!
F – Fancy Day (April 23): Wear your favorite or fanciest outfit!
G – Green & Gold Day (April 24): Dress in your best green and gold!
H – Hat Day (April 27): Wear your favorite hat to school!
I – Illinois Day (April 28): Wear Illinois gear or orange and blue!
J – Joke Day (April 29): Prepare to tell your friends and teachers your silliest joke!
K – Kindness Day (April 30): Do something kind today! Compliment someone, write a sweet note, etc!
L – Look-Alike (May 1): Dress to look like your friend or like your favorite teacher!
M – Mismatch Day (May 4): Wear your best mismatched clothing!
N – Neon Day (May 5): Wear bright neon colors!
O – Outdoor Day (May 6): Do some learning outside!
P – Pajama Day (May 7): Wear your favorite pajamas!
Q – Quiet Day (May 8): Practice whispering, mindfulness, and calming activities!
R – Retro Day (May 11): Dress from a past decade: 70’s, 80’s, 90’s!
S – Superheroes Day (May 12): Dress as your favorite superhero!
T – Thankful Day (May 13): Write and give out thank you notes to those that you’re grateful for!
U – USA Day (May 14): Wear red, white, and blue!
V – Volunteer Day (May 15): Volunteer to help a friend or a teacher with something today!
W – Wild West Day (May 18): Wear your best western outfit: think cowboys and cowgirls!
X – X-tra Special Day (May 19): Wear your favorite outfit!
Y – You Are Awesome Day (May 20): Celebrate each student with compliments, awards, or self reflection!
Z – Zip Bags and Zoom on Out of Here! (May 21): Happy last day of school!
