Brenda Bell, a first-grade teacher at Arland D. Williams Elementary School, was named WAND's Educator of the Month for September, a recognition honoring outstanding educators across Central Illinois who make a difference both in and out of the classroom. Educators selected embody the spirit of leadership and service and go the extra mile to help students succeed.
Teachers are nominated by colleagues, parents, or community members who witness their impact firsthand.
Brendaโs nomination came from a parent who shared a heartfelt message about the difference she has made in students' lives. In recognition, she will receive a $500 check and a plaque commemorating her as WANDโs Educator of the Month.
โIโve been in the district since 2016,โ said Bell. โI love my students. Iโm so thankful for everyone. Iโm deeply honored. Itโs just an honor to be nominated, let alone selected for the month.โ
Williams Elementary Principal Mike Shaffer praised Bellโs dedication and character.
โShe embodies all of the great characteristics of the spirit here at Arland D. Williams,โ he said. โSheโs patient, kind, she loves her students, and sheโs a great model for her kids.โ
