Mr. Dyerโs 6th grade Industrial Tech classes at Mattoon Middle School recently partnered with Williams and Riddle Elementary Schools to create shoelace tying practice boards for kindergarten students!
As part of the project, sixth graders demonstrated skills in measurement, alignment, and safely using tools like the miter saw, bandsaw, drill press, and sanders. Students carefully measured, cut, sanded, and painted their boards to resemble real shoes. All boards were designed to help younger students learn how to tie their shoes independently.
This year, a large coordinated event was held with the entire kindergarten class at Williams Elementary, with a similar event planned for Riddle Elementary in mid to late April.
