Mattoon, Illinois- The Mattoon school board announced Dale Righter will serve as a new board member representing Mattoon CUSD #2.
The vacancy became available on July 1, 2022, after Susan Braun announced her resignation. The board interviewed applicants during their July 12, 2022 meeting and selected Righter.
“It’s an honor to be appointed to the school board that oversees the district where I went to school and where my two boys attended,” said Righter. “Mattoon has a great school system and I look forward to being a part of making it even stronger for our students and community.”
Righter graduated from Mattoon High School and attended St. Louis University Law School and Eastern Illinois University. He served as an Illinois State Representative from 1997-2003 and as a member of the Illinois Senate from 2003-2021.
Currently, Righter is the owner and operator of the Law offices of Dale A. Righter in Mattoon and has operated the business since November of 2019.
“On behalf of the Mattoon school board, we are pleased and honored to welcome Dale to the school board and believe he will be a valuable asset to the district,” said Michelle Skinlo, board president.
Dale Righter will take the oath of office at the regular meeting on August 9, 2022.
