The Mattoon High School Wavette Dance Team has teamed up with the Charleston Trojan Dance Team to present “We all are Gold" tomorrow night at the Coles County Clash! Mattoon’s twenty-three football dancers are proud to combine with Charleston’s ten dancers and perform a united routine. The two teams have practiced Monday-Thursday this week to learn a 4-minute routine choreographed by Mattoon's coach Malia Smith. The teams began this tradition with the first Clash held in 2012. This year the routine is hosted and choreographed by Mattoon’s dance coaching staff.

Hollywood Screenwriter and Mattoon Native, Craig Titley visited a couple of our schools on September 21st. Titley spoke about his time in the district and how that helped prepare him for his career. He also took questions from students about some of his film projects, including "Cheaper By the Dozen", "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief", and the 2002 live action "Scooby Doo" film. We are thankful for Titley's time and how he left everyone feeling inspired.

Franklin Preschool is hosting a family movie night for their students and families on Thursday, September 28th at 7 p.m.
The movie will be the 1989 version of "The Little Mermaid". Popcorn & water will be provided. Please bring a lawn chair or a blanket to sit on.
Due to the upcoming changes of the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) the Financial Aid presentation provided by Lake Land College previously scheduled for today (September 25th) has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 16th at 5pm. The event will be held in the MHS cafeteria. More information and details will be provided at a later time.

Mattoon Supervisors from both Riddle and Williams Elementary Schools recently met to participate in a de-escalation training provided by Kendra Rogers from EIASE.
Paras also attended in a separate group. A shout-out to EIASE for helping with this training.
A shout-out to The Fellowship Center for their recent donation. They held a collection for school supplies for students in need at our elementary schools. We appreciate their donation and thoughtfulness. 🫶
6th grade students at MMS recently participated in a gummy bear lab. They created a hypothesis stating which solution they thought would help the gummy bear grow the most (Sprite, salt water, sugar water, vinegar water, or plain water). They ran an experiment, analyzed their data, came to a conclusion, and had a lot of fun doing so!
Shout-out to Justrite in Mattoon for once again blessing the MHS Pantry with such generosity! This year's gift is 30 cases of water and a check for $800.00! MHS values the partnership with Justrite. Their continued support of our staff and students is heartwarming. 🫶

Cheer on the Greenwave as they run the annual Broadway Bolt tomorrow! The Boys start at 4:45 p.m. and the girls start at 4:50 p.m.! They will start and finish by the Train Depot Bridge.
The Homecoming Parade will start at 5:30 p.m. The theme for this year's parade is "A Night Under The Stars". The parade route will run from 16th and Broadway and terminate at North 1st and Broadway a block past Peterson Park.
