Due to the excessive heat warnings, all outdoor sports competitions have been cancelled through Thursday, August 24th for both MHS and MMS athletics. Indoor sports competitions will continue as regularly scheduled unless otherwise posted. If we have any potential practice changes, coaches will communicate these updates with their teams. The health and safety of our students will always be a priority for us, and we thank you for understanding and supporting our athletes during this time. 🙏

Mr. Mann invites all interested 5th-grade students and their families to our official Elementary Band Sign-Up Night on Thursday, August 24, beginning at 5:30 pm in the Williams Elementary Cafeteria. While a packet of information will be sent home to interested students, we will use the meeting to discuss the band program and class benefits/expectations, view a presentation by The Music Shoppe regarding instrument rentals and their services, and officially sign your student up for band class. If you have any questions or are unable to attend the meeting but wish to sign your student up for band, please reach out to Mr. Mann at alekmann@mcusd2.com.

Our bus drivers and aides recently went through a smoke safety training course. Emergency personnel assisted and helped our drivers learn how they would evacuate children in that kind of scenario.
Our transportation staff goes through multiple training sessions throughout the year. We appreciate the help of our local emergency personnel.
The MMS Girls Basketball Team plans to hold tryouts on Wednesday, August 30th - Friday, September 1st. Coaches are currently working on a schedule of specific times by grade level which will be announced at a later date. If you have a child interested, they must be registered on Snap 8to18 and must have a current physical on file before trying out! Car Seat Inspections by Certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians will be taking place on September 18 from 4:00 -6:00 p.m. at the LIFT building.

The Greenwave Battalion Corps of Cadets is putting on a car wash Saturday, August 19th from 8:00 - 2:00 p.m. Proceeds will go towards the American Cancer Society. The Cadets will be located on the corner of 19th & Broadway in KC Summer's Dealership.
The MHS Chess Team will hold an informational meeting on Thursday, August 17th at 6:00 p.m. in Room 221. This meeting is for both guardians and students. Please bring a Chromebook to the meeting. Please park on the West side of MHS and enter at Entrance 4. The meeting will cover the season schedule, expectations, and online registration. ♟

Come "Meet the Greenwave" on Friday, August 18th from 5:25-8:25 PM! This event will be held on the Football Field/Track. 🎉
Each athletic team will play a scrimmage/challenge during their allotted time slot. Please come out to support our Greenwave athletes! 👏
The Pride of Greenwave Marching Band will also be performing! 🥁
For admission, we ask that you please bring a bottle of Gatorade or water. 🥤
Youth Soccer registration for 4th and 5th graders opens on August 18th. If you have students in that age group that are interested, be sure to get their physicals as soon as possible! 📑

Grades 3-12 can either exchange their old Chromebook & charger for a new device OR purchase their old device for $25 and receive a new device. Cash or checks can be made payable to MCUSD2. 💸
MMS students will have the opportunity to exchange tomorrow (Friday, August 11th) from 11:30 - 1:00 PM. If your student is unable to attend, they will exchange their Chromebook the first week of school. 🏫
Grades 3-5 and MHS students can also participate in the exchange at the beginning of the school year. 🧑🏫
