The Birth-3 Program is having a "Night of Nocturnal Animals" on May 18 from 5-7 PM at the Douglas Hart Nature Center. Families are invited to come and learn about nocturnal animals, enjoy a hike, and cook hot dogs and s'mores. RSVP to Katrina at 217-238-8806

Meet Christian Pettyjohn from Franklin Preschool! Christian is in Miss Polston’s Full-Day classroom. His personal WIG (Wildly Important Goal) is to follow the classroom rules. Christian said, “I need to have listening ears, a calm body, watching eyes, and a quiet voice. If I have a problem I know I can talk to a teacher.” Christian said that when he has a good day, and follows the rules, it makes him “happy and excited.” At school, Christian enjoys playing with his friends, playing outside, and making art projects. Miss Polston said, “Christian has made a lot of progress towards his goal this year! He is really working on self-regulation and we are so proud of him! He is very excited for kindergarten!”

The MMS Band and Choir Concert will be held on May 17 at 6 PM in the Wildcat Gym. The choir starts at 6 and the Band at 7.

Mattoon Middle School has a new puzzle in the Media Center for students to collaboratively finish! It is ALL WHITE! Once a student is able to add a piece to the puzzle, they can add their initials to that piece so at the end we will be able to see all of our students who contributed to the completion of the puzzle!

The Mattoon Middle School will be hosting 6th Grade Orientation tomorrow (April 26th) from 5:30-7:00 PM. Please arrive at the Wildcat Gym on time to ensure you don't miss anything. Students will be able to meet the teachers, practice opening lockers, tour the building, and enjoy a scavenger hunt while learning more about MMS.

The turtles in the courtyard at Mattoon Middle School are making their annual appearance out of hibernation! We have an entire family of turtles and have spotted some babies already this spring! These turtles have been a part of the MMS family for about 2 decades and students look forward to them each Spring! They are fed by the media center (see "Broccoli" in the picture) and are enjoyed by all!
