A look into the Birth-3 Program family space! Our program hosts families here to give them a space to learn and play! Computers for parents to use, plenty of toys for the kids, a library with books for the whole family, and take-home backpacks filled with learn & play goodies!
The Mattoon Varsity and JV Wavettes are in Springfield this weekend to begin competing in the state IDTA dance series. Tonight (2/11) Annelise Overmyer, Justyce Prather, and Katie Clatfelter will compete in the preliminary solo division. Saturday (2/12) begins the team competition. Both teams will be competing in the Pom, Lyrical, and Jazz categories. Lexi Miller will also be showcasing her 1st place JV solo during awards.

The Birth to 3 staff will be conducting car seat checks and safety education during preschool screenings this year! If you would like to sign up for an appointment, call Franklin Preschool at 217-238-8800!
You do not have to be attending preschool screening to have your car seat checked; but appointments are limited, so make your appointment asap!

We were happy to see that 95.8% of parents that took the eLearning survey said that their child was able to access their material in Schoology and 92.2% said they were able to complete it.
However, to make sure that everyone has the ability to access the eLearning material, we are offering open labs for internet access through Wednesday this week (2/7-2/9).
Elementary Schools: 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Middle and High Schools: 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.

Riddle Art Students have been making Valentine's Day cards for the local Nursing Homes. Our students were invited by Senator Bailey's office to participate in the Valentines for Seniors Card Drive. We are thankful for our students desire to help create these cards to show local seniors in assisted living and long-term care facilities that they are cared for and thought of on Valentines.



Media Specialist Mrs. Minger is asking for photos of Mattoon Middle School students over the new few days. Parents and guardians, please send photos of your children eLearning or enjoying the winter weather! She plans to use them to update the sign out front of the middle school. Her media class will put together a fun video as well. Please email Mrs. Minger or drop your photos in the comments.

Mattoon schools will be transitioning learning to eLearning Days Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (February 2nd-4th). All practices, events, and extracurriculars for those days will be postponed. Students and families can check their email for additional eLearning information.

Nate Huddleston represented The Pride of the Green Wave Band and our school district very well in the ILMEA All-State Music Festival this past Wednesday through Saturday (1/26-1/29) in the All-State Concert Band in Peoria. He displayed his total percussion skills by performing on timpani, bells, bass drum and snare drum at the concert. Congratulations Nate!



The Mattoon Green Wave are the 2022 Apollo Conference Scholastic Bowl champions! The MHS scholastic bowl team claimed the title with a 5-1 record in the conference tournament at MHS on Saturday. Ephraim Annis led the Green Wave with 63 points per game, and Josiah Donaldson averaged 25 points per game, earning both players All-Conference honors. The Green Wave have a season record of 11-8.
