MMS Wrestlers competed in Sectionals Saturday (3/5) at Jacksonville. MMS qualified the following wrestlers for State next weekend at NIU: Holden Barr 95 pounds, Tristan Porter 100 pounds, Brayden Dailey 126 pounds, Mitchell Clapp 185 pounds, and Akeem Dailey 275 pounds. The MMS Scholastic Bowl team competed in the South Central Scholastic Bowl Conference Tournament this weekend, hosted at Mattoon Middle School. The Wildcats successfully won both their pool and the championship round to be the 2022 Scholastic Bowl Conference Champion this year! We are so proud of them. Mattoon Middle School 7th grade Science classes are once again participating in the 10th anniversary of March Mammal Madness. We invite all students, staff members, and community members to participate as well. "Inspired by (but in no way affiliated with or representing) the NCAA College Basketball March Madness Championship Tournament, March Mammal Madness is an annual tournament of *simulated* combat competition among animals. Scientific literature is cited to substantiate likely outcomes as a probabilistic function of the two species' attributes within the battle environment. Attributes considered in calculating battle outcome include temperament, weaponry, armor, body mass, running speed, fight style, physiology, and motivation." Mattoon School District will dismiss two and a half hours early today Feb. 24, 2022 due to forecasted weather. Lunches will be served. All school activities are canceled including YMCA After School Program and Stretch Time.
