The Hannah Mansell annual Memorial 5K race was held on Saturday, September 24th. Proceeds from the race went to the Hannah Mansell Happy Day Memorial Foundation to be distributed to the EIASE students with whom she worked, and to continue funding a scholarship in Hannah’s name for ASL students at William Woods University, her Alma Mater. Hannah Mansell was a sign language interpreter for EIASE. She worked in both Williams Elementary and MMS for several years. Her positive demeanor and spread of sunshine and smiles impacted all the students and staff in both buildings. #MCUSD2 #Mattoon

Students in Mrs.Wetzel’s 1st grade class at Williams made shape pizzas recently. Students had to build their own pizzas and add toppings of their choice. Then they had to count the number of each variety of topping and fill out a chart. Such a fun way to learn! #MCUSD2

This past Thursday was the first Learning Walk of the year. During Learning Walks, some of our staff and administration take tours throughout our different schools and are guided by students. While there, they get to visit various rooms to discover how students are learning and leading. Pictured are the learning walk guides from Williams Elementary. Kinnaman's First Grade class at Williams Elementary, they read, "The Giant Jam Sandwich", in which a town gets invaded by wasps and community members must work together to create a trap. Afterwards, students collaborated with their peers to create and name their own wasp traps! The entire class synergized and some amazing ideas came to life! #MCUSD2 #Mattoon #WilliamsElementary
