Williams Elementary students in Ms. McCoy’s classroom took on a courtyard renovation project this past semester, working to bring more color and fun to the space. Students came up with the idea of a sensory corner, new signage, a lending library, new seating, and more. After drafting a plan, they were overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they received. A student from the Manufacturing, Architecture, Construction, and Electrical class at LIFT constructed a “Busy Board” for the sensory area. The Lake Land College Print Shop worked on the signage, took students for a tour of the printing facility, and donated a portion of the costs. The MHS Welding class provided lawn ornaments they had created, and several parents donated time and books for the lending library. Plants were also purchased from the MHS Ag Plant Sale to help give the space new life. 🌸📚
We are proud of the leadership and initiative the students took to not just discuss and dream about improvements, but to put in the work to make it happen. Their hope behind the project is to provide another option for students wanting to extend beyond the classroom walls for years to come. We would also like to thank the many people who helped make this project possible! 🌱🌿

Sophia Seba, Violet Weddle, Isolde Veach, and KaMiah Browder from Riddle Elementary School were recently chosen as art scholarship recipients to receive art supplies. The scholarship is awarded to students who show amazing talents creating art. The scholarships were provided by the Mattoon Arts Council. Congrats to these four students and thank you to the Mattoon Arts Council for making this possible! 🎨🖌️

🚨Attention Riddle Elementary Families 🚨
Just a reminder, beginning Monday, May 6th, we will begin a new process for drop-off and pick-up at Riddle Elementary School. This new layout is designed to keep the flow of traffic moving while maintaining a safe environment for our students, staff, and families.
🚙 All parent/guardian drop-off and pick-ups will remain in the west parking lot.
🚌 Please leave the north parking lot for school bus traffic.
Please check your email for a map and follow the new route beginning Monday, May 6th. The gate will be opened for the back playground to extend traffic on campus in an attempt to provide greater safety on 43rd street. These gates will open at 2:45 p.m. Drop-off times will remain the same. We will have staff outside to help direct traffic with these updates.
As always, please drive safe and avoid cell phone usage while in the school zone. Thank you for your patience and cooperation!
