Mrs. Kimery’s kindergarten classroom at Riddle features the “discovery shelf.” This past week, students were able to discover and compare pumpkins size/weight of being heavy or light at one of the stations. In addition, each student received a pumpkin to take home! Pumpkins were donated from Mr. and Mrs. Black who work within the district! #MCUSD2 #Mattoon #RiddleElementary

Riddle Elementary 4th and 5th-grade students are invited to participate in the Illinois Readers Choice Program, the Bluestem Award. There are twenty nominated books, and in March students are able to vote for the book they believe should win the award. For each Bluestem book read, students answer questions about the book and are entered into a monthly drawing for free books. Pictured are the drawing winners for the months of August and September. Students in Mr. Niemerg's 5th grade Art Classes at Riddle have been using Math skills along with their art skills. Students are measuring to create Grid drawings of Pop Art junk foods. The lesson is about making healthy snack choices. They also discussed the roles of graphic designers to make the wrappers and advertisements to convince consumers to purchase their products. #MCUSD2 #Mattoon #RiddleElementary

Riddle Elementary students continue to work hard on their school homecoming float. Students in Mr. Niemerg's art class, who finished their assigned work, helped to paint some glowing signs for the parade this past week. Riddle Elementary students have been working hard to create their sculptures for the 2022 Homecoming Parade. Riddle students used their math skills (making to scale and measuring) to create their secret sculptures.
