Twenty-six 4th and 5th grade students from Riddle and Wiliams Elementary Schools recently enjoyed a field trip to Barnes and Noble in Champaign to select books for their school libraries. These students worked hard to earn a spot on this coveted trip by been reading Bluestem books. While there, students toured the store, saw the latest published children's books, and picked out books for their fellow readers back in Mattoon. To finish the day, students enjoyed ice cream at Dairy Queen. It was a great day a day of shopping, ice cream, and laughter! ๐๐๏ธ๐ฆ

Mrs. Ruppert and Ms. McCoy's classes at Williams Elementary School recently participated in a blanket-making and donation project for The Haven. This project was dreamed up by Mrs. Ruppert's 2nd graders, and they graciously invited Ms. McCoy's class to join in on the project. ๐ ๐ค ๐
After generous donations from students' families, the students worked to cut and tie over 65 blankets to donate to The Haven! ๐ We are so proud of them for seeing a need and using their leadership to make such a positive impact in our community. It is undeniable proof that even our youngest leaders can make a HUGE difference! ๐ง๐ฆ
Chris Davis from he Haven expressed gratitude, saying,, "We are extremely thankful for the blanket donation, the passion, and kindness shown. I truly believe these young people are world changers, and I appreciate their authenticity." ๐
