In observance of Juneteenth (Monday, June 19th), there are no summer camps and all MCUSD#2 offices are closed.

Grant was the Riddle Art 4th Quarter School Positive Leadership Winner!
Grant's name was drawn from the raffle box full of hundreds of tickets. The prize that Grant won was totally up to him. Grant found out Mr. Niemerg was creating baseball bats and Grant stated, " I want it to give to my dad for Father's Day." Chosing that, Grant sacrificed his personal reward, giving up candy and various other treats for a Father's Day gift for his dad! We love the heart in that decision and want to congratulate him on his win!

Mr. Wheeler's 4th-grade students at Riddle Elementary joined a live event on Storyvoice this month with author Ryan Higgins. The author read his work aloud and taught the students how to draw Bruce the bear. The students were thrilled when a producer let them know that their class was randomly selected to ask questions to the author live on mic!
In response to their question, they found out that Ryan Higgins's favorite childhood book was Calvin and Hobbes.
The students enjoyed the live lesson!

Riddle Elementary School recently had a very productive book fair. The BOGO fair allowed students and families double the merchandise.
Cops for Kids from the Mattoon Police Department donated $500 toward getting books in students' hands. This was about 140 books!
Riddle also partnered with One Stop Community Christmas. Families had the option of donating a new book, making a monetary donation, or rounding up their purchase for this cause. Through the generous contributions of book fair customers, Riddle was able to donate 89 books for One Stop Community Christmas! Riddle Library will get to spend about $800 on Scholastic Merchandise for the library and its programming. Thank you to all our Riddle families for supporting the book fair.

Riddle Elementary 4th and 5th-grade students are invited to participate in the Illinois Readers Choice Program, the Bluestem Award. For each Bluestem book read, students answer questions about the book and are entered into a monthly drawing for free books. Pictured are the drawing winners for the month of April.
