Today is National Lunch Hero Day! Nutritious meals at school are an essential part of the school day, and the staff of the district’s school meals and nutrition department are committed to providing healthy, nutritious meals to the district’s children. The individuals who prepare and serve school meals help nurture our children through their daily interaction and support. Mattoon School District expresses its deep appreciation to these valuable employees and commends their good work on behalf of the children.

Riddle Elementary art students in Grade 2/3 Miss Blackwell's class had some fun making paper self-portraits. Students worked fast to complete their portraits in one single class period. Students were encouraged to add details to their work.

The Second Annual Tech Leadership Celebration will be held at Williams Elementary on May 5th from 9:00-10:00 AM. All families are welcome to watch as students gather from across the district to celebrate their tech achievements from the past year! The Riddle Elementary Scholastic BOGO Book Fair is this week! While there, please consider donating to benefit One Stop Community Christmas! Donate your free book, a few dollars, or round up change to help this great cause. One Stop Community Christmas provides a wonderful Christmas for families in 7 counties, including Coles County! Riddle Elementary 4th and 5th-grade students are invited to participate in the Illinois Readers Choice Program, the Bluestem Award. For each Bluestem book read, students answer questions about the book and are entered into a monthly drawing for free books. Pictured are the drawing winners from the month of March. Students also recently voted for their favorite book. The winning book, chosen by students across Illinois, was "Twins" written by Varian Johnson and illustrated by Shannon Wright.

Riddle Elementary School will host two great events in one night on May 4, 2023! The family board game night will be held in the Cafetorium from 5:30-7:00 PM and the Scholastic Book Fair will take place in the Library from 5:00-7:30 PM.
